I've changed my website by removing all the "blog" elements. It occurred to me that I'm more interested in useful information than opinion. Evidence of that is how hard it is to consume "news" in its current formats.

I'm old enough to remember watching Walter Cronkite on a black-and-white TV with four working channels. I remember the early days of CNN—when the emphasis was on hard, truly "breaking" news from around the world. The CNN of today is just an on-air tabloid and partisan mouthpiece. This must be driving Ted Turner crazy.

Like it says on my home page: "My website is a place where you can learn more about who I am and my latest activities. It's also a place where I share content that inspires me—and I hope lifts you up as well. There is also a section on my book projects." That's enough.

I'm living in Palm Desert, CA. Have been in the Coachella Valley 10 years. As beautiful as it is with awesome desert and mountain views, the 120 ℉ summer heat is getting to be more than this Scandinavian can handle. So I plan to move sometime in the next six to 12 months.

My main focus right now is on my Mom, who is in hospice in Indianapolis. The distance makes the separation hard on many levels. Fortunately, my brother and I are working together to support Mom in her final days. She just turned 87 and is an amazingly strong and loving person. My father died 23 years ago.

I've decided not to make any major life changes until Mom passes. In the meantime I'm keeping busy with small projects around the house—with an eye toward selling it in the near future.
