The Bible is so important, yet so hard to read
The Bible is the best-selling and most widely distributed book in history. According to Guinness World Records, it's estimated that between 5 and 7 billion copies of the Bible have been printed.
But here's the problem: The Bible is hard to read straight through. Many try, get bogged down, and give up. But walking away means missing a text that has profoundly shaped Western culture.
Whether you approach the Bible as a believer or a skeptic, there is a wealth of knowledge to discover. If only there were a way to make the Bible more accessible to more people.
Finding your way into the Bible
The Bible Summaries Series is a project I'm currently working on. Its goal is to offer multiple ways to understand the Bible. Each path stands on its own, yet each connects to the others, so you can wander freely or dig as deep as you want.
Consensus views from mainstream scholarship are combined with perspectives from the Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant traditions. Similarities and distinctions are clearly identified.
Revisit a familiar story. Trace people across the books that mention them. Explore the places where events unfolded. Or follow a theme as it develops from beginning to end.
Stories, people, places, themes—or some combination of these fascinating portals. The Bible Summaries Series lets you follow whatever draws you in, moving easily from one topic to the next as your curiosity leads.
If your goal is to approach the Bible comprehensively, covering the same material from multiple perspectives will amplify your understanding. The more ways you understand the Bible, the more you will appreciate its breadth and depth.
A work in progress
The Bible Summaries Series is a huge project. It's going to start with the first book in the series, Stories, as an ebook on Amazon Kindle Unlimited. People, Places, and Themes will follow. Depending on how that goes, print versions of the books will be published.
